Today I went to the mall. Yup. Walking is walking, there doesn’t always have to be a cathedral at the end of it, I think. It’s about 2 miles out of Coimbra in Santa Clara, and it’s a gorgeous Riverside walk to get there (except for the scary highway I had to cross), so I managed to kill my exercise and mall requirements in the same walk.

And… here’s the mall:

This above is where the COS should have been. Instead, here is its looming Big Brother, H&M. I’m heartbroken. I’m not going in there.
Memories of my teenage ‘80’s years…

This is for Jeremy 🎂:

With the exchange rate, it’s basically the same…
Ugh. I bought some thing at Zara. What the hell. Why am I buying fast fashion in Europe? What is the point?! How am I going to get everything home in one carry-on bag?!
Ostensibly I was going to this mall to see the big Target-sized supermarket to see what they have there.

The Peixarias are just really amazing in Portugal. They take up half the store.

My new friend in Coimbra told me that in Portugal, sometimes wine is cheaper than water. Here’s a good example. There are great wines here and some of them are cheaper than Two Buck Chuck.

As CBS Sunday Morning said, tinned fish is having a moment.

The store also has home goods too just like Target. This is cute, all these sets of dishes are named after Portugal cities. Guess which one I would buy to furnish my proposed new apartment?

So that’s my outing for the day. And if I were to live in Coimbra, sometimes I would have go to the mall, right?
