I’m really behind on this blog. So this post will be mostly pictures – so I can catch up – of this amazing place went to outside of Coimbra.
Conímbriga is a one of the largest Roman settlements excavated in Portugal, only about 15 minutes outside of Coimbra city center. The floors of some of the major homes, roads, and forums of this ancient city are incredibly well preserved. Beautiful mosaics, and clearly defined structures are all visible within a 1 to 2 mile radius, and a beautiful historic park site.

All of these ruins were really amazing, but our favorite was the last thing on the self guided tour –The House of Fountains. The mosaics in this house were just spectacular and the internal gardens and fountain structures were still intact. It was fantastic.

Then we had a great lunch out on the balcony overlooking all the ruins. The weather has been pretty incredible for the past few days.
